Amid COVID19 Surge, Newsom Shuts the Party Down

This Sunday, Governor Gavin Newsom ordered seven California counties, including Los Angeles, to immediately close bars amid a spike in coronavirus cases statewide, including the Bay Area. While all counties mandated to close were in central or southern California, eight additional counties, including Contra Costa and Santa Clara counties in the Bay Area, received a recommendation to close bars. This comes as the Bay Area contact tracing program, while difficult to implement, is showing early signs of success.
