Supervisor Gordan Mar has pushed a bill that requires large businesses who laid off more than 10 employees to offer those employees their old jobs back if they can begin to rehire again. Nearly 39,000 employees have been laid off in San Francisco, including 5,000 who have been laid off permanently. The Board of Supervisors voted in favor of the measure 10-1, with Supervisor Catherine Stefani being the only opposition.
