As political leaders feel the pressure from Black Lives Matter in the wake of nationwide protests, BART has announced they will no longer use police for calls relating to homelessness and drug use. Instead, unarmed ambassadors, specializing in social work, will respond. BART police have faced criticism over the last few years. The recent protests only increased calls for action.
