UC strikes SAT/ACT requirements for admission

The University of California Board of Regents issued a unanimous decision eliminating the requirement that students provide SAT and ACT scores on their applications. Applicants will have the option to provide the scores for fall 2021 and 2020 admission but after that, the applications will become “test blind” for two years.

This comes after years of debate on the fairness and equality of standardized testing and the role the scores play as barriers to qualified students making it into top schools.
