Plan by Board President Yee to Adjust Police Hiring Based on Data Draws Fire From POA

Board of Supervisors President Norman Yee is proposing a ballot measure to adjust the amount of police officers the city has in its employ by making the police department go through the Police Commission every two years to approve data-based staffing recommendations. The POA is not a fan of this idea, as Yee’s proposal would remove a staffing minimum dictated by a 1994 charter amendment.
