Local Healthcare and Economic Impacts as SF Coronavirus Cases Surge

As San Francisco reaches 70 confirmed COVID-19 cases as of 10am Thursday, local residents are largely complying with the shelter in place order. The economic impacts of sheltering in place throughout the Bay Area look to be severe, particularly in the hospitality and service and transit industries, which employ about 465,000 workers region wide. As healthcare needs escalate, the embattled Seton Medical center secures emergency State funding to remain open.
