Bay Dredging Digs Up Climate Change Concerns

A bid to deepen a shipping channel in San Francisco Bay has turned into a debate over climate change. Environmental groups are concerned that 13 miles of dredged waterways inside the Golden Gate is intended to benefit ships delivering oil to East Bay refineries at a time when society should be phasing out fossil fuels. The Army Corps of Engineers contends that their primary concern is the safety of ships already entering the bay.
