Muni Roundup - Crime Falling, Art Rising, Still Running Late

Crime on Muni has dropped significantly in the last several years, from 2,236 incidents in 2014 to 1,145 in 2018 and only 461 through June of 2019. The SFMTA has hired a Baltimore PD veteran to be the next chief security officer of the transit agency to ensure the trend continues. But….they are still running late. Curbed SF runs down the latest numbers on the best and worst lines for on-time arrivals.

In other news, the first of a series of large art installations at platforms along the new Central Subway corridor has been installed at Fourth and Brannan. The SFMTA chose ten Bay Area artists to design art pieces to adorn the stops along the long-await Muni extension to Chinatown.
