The race to be San Francisco’s next District Attorney remains tight, with moderate interim District Attorney Suzy Loftus narrowly leading progressive challenger Chesa Boudin. While Boudin led in the first round of balloting, second and third votes for Loftus, coming from candidates Leif Dautch and Nancy Tung, giving her a narrow lead as of this writing.

The combination of Tung’s stronger-than-expected performance (getting around 20% of first-round votes) and consistent disbursement of second-place votes to Loftus edged out the second choices of Dautch’s voters, who largely seemed to prefer Boudin.
