I Will Remember You

The Chronicle details the legacy of our departed District Attorney, George Gascon, who investigated misconduct in SFPD and championed criminal justice reform measures at the state level like realignment and proposition 47 and 57, which lowered punishment for nonviolent offenses.

Despite that reputation, at the end of his tenure, Gascon had created enemies on all sides of the spectrum; from the SFPD, angry at his aggressive misconduct investigations,  to liberal activists, angry that he refused to charge cops in fatal police shootings, to Mayor Breed, unhappy with the increase in street crime.
