Mayor London Breed struck a deal with tech titans Salesforce and Postmates on Wednesday, using legislation authored by Supervisor Vallie Brown to offer the companies a 10% tax break in exchange for them waiving their potential right to a refund of Proposition C taxes. Proposition C, a ballot measure supported by SF voters last fall, increases taxes on certain large companies in SF to fund homeless services and housing, but is in legal limbo due to a series of lawsuits, meaning that while the City is collecting tax revenue it is not currently able to spend it.
