Caltrain at Capacity

Caltrain’s ridership has leveled off after steadily packing more and more riders in over the past 15 years. This could spell trouble for the funding Caltrain receives from the counties it serves, and impact the already untenable gridlock along the 101 corridor.

Caltrain’s capacity will expand once the new electrified trains start running in 2022, but until then, riders can expect to feel like sardines during peak commute hours.
