Governor Newsom’s Wildfire Bill Passing Through Legislature...Like Wildfire

A bill in the state legislature spearheaded by Governor Newsom’s office to reshape electric utility regulation is speeding by, and could become law by Friday. AB 1054 is massive, and would, among other things, create a $21-billion victim compensation fund and require utilities to get annual safety certifications.  Assemblymember Phil Ting voted against the bill in support of SF's push to make utilities public.
