Newsom Budget Deal Centers on Healthcare

In a budget deal unveiled Sunday, California legislators and Governor Newsom have agreed to enact a State health insurance mandate and penalty, modeled off of the Affordable Care Act, which would replace the recently zeroed-out federal penalty for failing to carry insurance, as well as expand medical eligibility for poor undocumented youth from 18 to 26.
