Butte County DA and California AG Becerra Consider Filing Criminal Charges Against PG&E

Butte County District Attorney Mike Ramsey and California Attorney General Xavier Becerra are considering filing criminal manslaughter or murder charges against Pacific Gas and Electric senior managers, and perhaps the company itself, over their roles in the wildfires which have ravaged California.

While criminal charges against a corporate entity may be a difficult legal needle to thread, prosecuting the case sends a strong, symbolic message and focuses legislative and public attention on criminal wrongdoing.
