Lyft vs. SF: The Battle of the Bikes

The wars over forms of transportation continue.

Yesterday, Lyft filed sued against the City of San Francisco, who had recently announced its plans to open permitting for a larger dockless bike-share program. Lyft acquired Bay Area Motivate last summer; Motivate currently has exclusive rights to docked bike share in San Francisco.

Docked bikes have faced hurdles in every neighborhood they've been introduced in, largely over concerns about taking away valuable parking spaces. Dockless bikes don't have that drawback, and Lyft is prepared to fight any opportunity its rivals may have to capitalize on that difference.
