Civilians and Experts on SFPD\'s Anti-Bias Working Group: Are the Cops Listening?

The SFPD’s anti-bias working group convened on Monday for the first time since October with a new head, Commander Teresa Ewins, but with the same ongoing concerns from working group members that the SFPD does not take their input seriously, as Ewins stated “Your input is important, but we still write the policy.”

The SFPD has a habit of not writing - or implementing - important policies to build trust within the communities they serve, as is evidenced by the department’s refusal to implement hundreds of recommendations from the U.S. Department of Justice in 2016.  The working group is now planning to meet on the second Monday of every month. We’ll see if anything changes under the Ewins’ leadership.
