Thursday marks the anniversary of the 1906 earthquake that left much of San Francisco destroyed in its wake. Since then building codes have improved dramatically, but the population has also increased tenfold, which will stress Bay Area water, fuel, and infrastructure resources in the inevitable event of a major quake. The Chronicle takes a deep dive into what San Francisco could be in for during the next ‘big one’.
