Nav Center Roundup - Sup. Haney\'s New Proposal and the Division within D6

D6 Supervisor Matt Haney announced yesterday that he will introduce new legislation at next week’s board meeting that would force each district that doesn’t currently have a navigation center to open one within the next 30 months.  Supervisors Hillary Ronen and Shamann Walton are co-sponsoring this proposal.

The Chronicle’s Dominic Fracassa dives deep into the controversy, backlash, and hostility surrounding the proposal to build the City’s largest navigation center on the Embarcadero from the diverse but deeply divided District 6, which currently has the highest number of homeless people and the highest concentration of homelessness shelters and services.
