Poll Shows Favorability for Life Imprisonment, Partisan Divide on Death Penalty

A new poll by Quinnipiac University shows that a majority - 48% of all Californians polled - prefer life imprisonment without parole for criminals as opposed to the death sentence. The poll also revealed a “sharp” partisan divide on the issue, with two-thirds of Democrats preferring life imprisonment, and two-thirds of Republicans favoring the death penalty.
