This Shipyard is Bananas

A California Department of Public Health inspection of the Hunters Point Shipyard has concluded that Parcel A-1 is “free from any radiological health and safety hazards”, says the City.

While scans of the have turned up 110 radiological anomalies in the parcel, 109 have turned out to be potassium 40, a radioactive isotope found commonly in bananas.

The remaining anomaly was found to be a low enough level of concentration as to not be harmful, according to the report.

The already homes on parcel A-1 were not included in the testing.
