Three months after Jerry Brown vetoed a bill which would have allowed for safe injection sites in San Francisco, authors of the original bill, Assemblywoman Susan Talamantes-Eggman (D-Stockton) and State Senator Scott Wiener (D-San Francisco) introduced a similar bill. AB 362 is nearly identical to the bill which was struck down after both chambers of the Legislature approved the last bill.

Wiener calls the bill a “new” approach to “help people get healthy,” as public drug injection “reflects a failure in our healthcare system.”
