At their Tuesday meeting, the SFMTA Board of Directors were none too pleased to find out that the Board of Supes and Mayor’s Office are directing the transit agency to spend part of the $38 million in windfall set-aside dedicated to the SFMTA on solar panels for bus yards and a construction mitigation funds, rather than spending the full amount on purchasing new trains.

Directors also voted to ban RVs and oversize vehicles from parking overnight around a reservoir in the Portola neighborhood, and SFMTA Chairman called out Muni head Ed Reiskin for the agency’s failure to respond quickly to a switch failure that stopped trains for 25 minutes in the Castro at the peak of morning rush hour.
