The Board of Supervisors voted 6-4 to approve Supervisor Jane Kim’s proposal to remove the minimum parking requirements for new housing developments from the City’s Planning code, formalizing a longstanding City practice.

While the proposal is supported by a wide array of groups including Mayor London Breed, Supervisors from outlying districts, including Board President Malia Cohen, voted against it, citing transportation concerns. The Board will take a final vote next week.
