The Board of Supervisors today will be considering changes to the City’s cannabis regulations including an amendment from Supervisor Aaron Peskin to cap the number of retail applications from cannabis businesses at four, with the intention to give smaller retailers a leg up and prevent monopolization of the industry in San Francisco. Critics say the change is unnecessary and unfair to new applicants since it will not affect businesses who’ve already submitted applications.

Cannabis retailers may submit more than four applications, with any additional put on hold until other applicants are reviewed.
