City Told SFPD Employees Toxic Shipyard Was Safe

The Chronicle’s digs deep into the toxic Hunters Point Shipyard and the danger 100 police employees were exposed to after the City moved them into a building in 1997 next to a “radiological screening yard - one of the most dangerous and contaminated areas of the shipyard, through public records and interviews with employees who worked on the site.  The yard was a dumping site for contaminated soil found throughout the shipyard via the “clean up” efforts.
