On Wednesday, the week-long Global Climate Action Summit led by Governor Jerry Brown began at the George Moscone Center.  Civic leaders, nonprofits, and business representatives will attend the invite-only event - which some environmental groups have decried as a “trade show.”

Communities for a Better Environment, an environmental activist group, has formed a coalition which planned a protest for this morning, a block away from the convention center.

At the beginning of the summit, Mayor London Breed spoke to attendees, saying “We have shown that you can be a sustainable city while maintaining a thriving economy.”
