The City is suing owners of a single-family Bernal Heights home that the City alleges has been illegally used as a short-term rental. The City claims that the owners lived in Bali while renting out the home to short-term guests. One rental ended in gunfire last October.

San Francisco requires that homes being rented out for less than 30 days at a home be registered with the Office of Short-Term Rentals and that the owner be a permanent resident of the unit, living in it at least 275 nights per year.
