Four deputy public defenders are challenging current Superior Court judges for their seats on June 5. As Superior Court judges are rarely challenged, their names typically do not even appear on ballots, and they are re-elected automatically.

While all four sitting judges were appointed by Republican governors, they have the support of many elected Democrats including the Governor, both U.S. Senators, and the San Francisco Democratic County Central Committee.
