A group of state Senators including Scott Weiner, Nancy Skinner, and Jim Beall shared a proposal to spend $5 billion of the State’s budget over the next four years on to address the housing and homelessness crises across the state. The money would fund new affordable housing and short- and long-term homelessness programs.

To do so, they’ll have to negotiate with Governor Jerry Brown, who has released a budget proposal with less funding dedicated to housing and homelessness and more toward filling the rainy day fund and budget reserves.
