The new San Francisco street fight: scooter versus pedestrian. #ScootersBehavingBadly was the talk of the city this week, and on Friday, it reached a high boil as San Francisco Public Works impounded 66 motorized scooters in the Financial District. The scooters, which sit on public sidewalks and can be unlocked by mobile phone app for a set price, have been blocking sidewalks throughout the city. Riders often ride them illegally on the sidewalk creating potential conflicts and collisions with pedestrians. In response, the Board of Supervisors have called a hearing on proposed regulations for scooters on Monday at 1:30pm at City Hall.
