The San Francisco Police Commission has passed a proposed budget which includes over $3 million for tasers, as requested by the SFPD.

The budget item, which has drawn strong criticism from community advocates and the ACLU, is bolstered by a SF Police Officer Association ballot measure which would require a yearly taser line item in the budget, which in concept is polling at 76%, according to a recent SF Chamber of Commerce poll.

The budget will be presented to Mayor Mark Farrell and the Board of Supervisors in the next two months.
