SF District Attorney George Gascón remained mostly mum after receiving word that a jury ruled against the prosecution in the Kate Steinle murder trial, reports Heather Knight at the Chron. Gascón's relatively muted reaction comes amid speculation that the DA's loss in the high-profile "sanctuary city" trial may prompt an electoral challenge in 2019. Former Police Commissioner Suzy Loftus and current D6 Supervisor Jane Kim are both rumored to be eyeing Gascón's perch.
