The trial of the man accused of shooting and killing Kate Steinle in 2015 is coming to a close - with the argument on both sides hinging on intent of the shooter, reports the Chronicle.

In a potential blow for the prosecution, the sole witness to the shooting is facing police misconduct claims in Federal Court, reports the Examiner.

This shooting garnered National attention in 2015 when then-candidate Donald Trump pointed to Zarete's immigration status while attacking Sanctuary Cities like San Francisco in his successful Presidential Campaign.
