Supervisor Ronen Secures Staff Support through Budget Process

While unable to add a fourth legislative aide to her City Hall team, Supervisor Hillary Ronen has successfully used the "add-back" process of the City's larger budget process to secure positions at various City departments to tackle issues of concern to her District, which includes the Mission, Portola, and Bernal Heights neighborhoods. While some argue the practice is incompatible with the City Charter, which puts the direction of City departments squarely under the Mayor's powers, the practice is arguably routine, with many members of the Board also using the add-back process this year and in past years to direct City departments to deliver services in their own districts to meet constituent needs.
